365 Cards Day 91

I can't believe I managed to complete EVERY challenge at 365 Cards this week!!! Today's final challenge at 365 Cards was "Front & Center". We had to keep every element of the card in the center, leaving lots of white space around the edge. Here is what I came up with:

365 Cards Days 89, 90 & 2S4U Kazan's #27 & Bonus

Day 89 & 2S4U Bonus Sketch:
This is the bonus sketch that was provided by one of the DT members at 2S4U. I also followed the Day 89 challenge at 365 Cards. Their challenge was Imagine This: Watermelon. Watermelon is the inspiration and we had to either use the colour or an actual image of a watermelon on our card. I chose to do a bit of both.

365 Cards Day 90 & Kazan's Sketch #27

I was really excited that I was able to use another card for a double challenge this week....yippee! Using the sketch that Kazan designed for us this week over at 2 Sketches 4 You, I then followed the colour challenge over at 365 Cards. The challenge there was "I See Your 'Two' Colours and we had to design a card using only 2 colours. There were a lot of entries for this week, so pop over to both of these blogs and check them out. 365 Cards Days 86, 87 & 88

Wow, this week has been a wee bit busy around my house. The good part is that the weather outside has been mostly fantastic and I was even able to enjoy some of it. In this post, I have 3 cards to upload for this week's challenges over at 365 Cards. I have fallen way behind this week and I still have 3 more cards to tell you about after these ones, but those will have to wait till later. On to Monday's challenge at 365.
Day 86 - Grape Fun
The challenge: use purple as the primary colour and incorporate atleast 5 circles on the card. This is what I came up with.

Day 87 - The "Eyes" Have It

This challenge was to use the word "eye" somewhere on your card. After a ton of thinking, I decided to look on the computer under clip art images for a colouring book style picture of a cyclops. When I came across this image of Cyclops from the X-men, I knew I had found my theme for this challenge.

Day 88 - Quite A Pair

Today's challenge was to "design an anniversary or engagement card; no wedding cards." For this challenge, I decided to emboss plain navy blue cardstock instead of using a patterned paper. I also used a blending pen to blend in the watercolour pencils so that it would have the "look" of being painted with actual watercolour paints. I don't think you can read the charm I attached to the bow, but it says "Cherish".

Mother's Day Cards

I know I have been very bad and negletfull with posting on my blog, but I am hoping things are starting to get better. My daughter and granddaughter had another bought with the flu and it was very bad for both of them this time around. Plus, they were moving in the middle of all of that. Hopefully life will quiet down around here and I can get back on track.
Today, I have a couple of cards to share with you. I hope you enjoy them.
The first card is one I made for my granddaughter to give her mom.

365 Cards Day 42

I also managed to make an Easter card to enter in the Day 42 challenge over at 365 Cards. Today was Stampin' Saturday and the challenge was " Stamp a background pattern on some card stock - otherwise, do not use patterned paper." I have wanted to try this technique, but never got around to it. Today I did, and here is the card I made:

Products Used: Card stock, stamps, ink and colouring pencils are Close To My Heart, Stickles from Ranger Industries, Crafts ribbon and unknown flower.

Well, after 3 days of being super sick, I am not going to spend too long on here tonight, and am going to go relax with my husband and our puppies, Angel and Zeus. From my family to yours, have a very HAPPY EASTER!!

CPS Card Sketch 110

Now that I am over the flu...finally, I thought I would give the challenge over at Card Positioning Systems a try. I still had a couple of Easter cards to get made today anyway, so why not?? This is their Sketch 110:

Items Used: Card stock, stamp, inks and watercolour pencils were all from Close To My Heart, embossing powder is Stamp-n' Stuff and the ribbon is Crafts.

Our Calendar

Over the past couple of years, I have decorated a few of those blank 12 x 12 calendars that you buy, but I have never kept one for my husband and myself. I made one for my mother, my mother-in-law, our son and our daughter so this year I decided it was our turn. And since I have been very ill with the flu these past few days, I don't have any new cards to post so I thought I would share my calendar with you. I have been doing each month as it comes rather than making it up all at once. Here are the pages I have completed so far.

January 2009: I love the way the trees hang with their new "blankets" after a heavy snowfall. These pictures were taken by me after a particularly heavy snowfall in 2004.

February 2009: Because this is the month for Valentine's Day, I chose my husband's College Graduation picture. He returned to school in Sept. 2006 after being downsized in the forestry industry, and graduated from the Environmental Technology Program at Confederation College on June 6, 2008. James and I were high school sweethearts and have been married for 23 wonderful years. He is the love of my life and I am so proud of him for all of his hard work and his dedication to family and home.

March 2009: features our darling fur-babies, Angel and Zeus, all decked out for St. Patrick's Day. I just love dressing these little guys up for different occasions. They are brother and sister and will turn 3 this coming July 2nd. I spoil them terribly, but they deserve it.

I know I am a little late with April, but I am still working on it. I hope to be back with that page in the next day or so.

365 Cards Day 38

"That's It...I Quilt!"

The artisit gave us a fantastic sketch to work with today...a quilt pattern. There are all kinds of quilt patterns that can be used as card or scrapbook patterns. The designer for today was Tammy Wark (check out her blog) and she did an awesome card to go with the sketch. Be sure to head over to 365 Cards and check out all the entries for today. Here is my take on today's sketch:

For this card I used paper from Hot Off The Press, inks from Close To My Heart and unknown ribbon and flower. I even know exactly who I'm going to give this one to. I have a very dear friend who is always making quilts for everyone in her family, and her birthday is coming up soon. I know she will love this when she gets it. 365 Cards Day 37 & Laura's Sketch 23

Today marks the start of a new card challenge at 2 Sketches 4 You. The Design Team did a fabulous job with this week's sketch. When you have some time, be sure to check them all out.

Here is my take on Laura's Sketch 23 and the chipboard I dressed up for 365 Cards Day 37:

I was lucky enough to be able to use this card for 2 different card challenges....yippee! The challenge for today at 365 Cards was to 'dress up' some chipboard and add it to your card. I chose the scalloped circle from one of my Stampin' Up On Boards sets. I inked the chip in colours that would go with my scheme, added some glitter to the whole surface, then tied my bow around it before glueing it onto my card. I just love glittering things up. Scor-it Challenge

Good Morning All!!

You will want to be sure and mark your calendars when I tell you about this challenge. From April 12 - 18, there will be a series of challenges offerred at 365 Cards relating to scoring. I don't own a Scor-it and I have never tried one but everone who has worked with this tool raves about how fantastic it is. This is what Pam, from 365 Cards had to say about this 'new' tool:

Today I decided to try a sketch from a different card challenge website. 365 Cards posts a new card sketch every day, with the goal of making a different card every day of the year. Laura's Sketch 22

Laura from 2 Sketches 4 You has designed this week's card challenge sketch.

As soon as I saw Laura's sketch this week, I knew exactly how I wanted to proceed with it. All of a sudden, I had this picture in my mind and I could envision every detail of my card. This card is my first attempt at using a hinge as an embillishment, and even though I wasn't too sure of how it should be placed on the card, I think I did pretty good. The hinge still works, so I figure I must have done part of it right...lol. The paper I chose for this week was purchased from Created With Paper and is from Toni's "Organic" and "Beachy Keen" kits. I just love buying these kits from Toni. I joined her Monthly Kit Club in March 2008 and I have bought almost every months kit since then, along with several other items. I'm not sure why, but I had a bit of a difficult time with Kazan's sketch this week on 2 Sketches 4 You. I had a couple of different ideas on what I wanted to do with it, but when I began putting it together, I seemed to struggle. Alls well that ends well....I finally got it finished and posted before the deadline.
